Thriller Conventions

Thriller is a broad genre of literature, film and television. 

What do thrillers have?
All Thrillers have fast pacing, frequent action. Not only this but they also have resourceful hero's, which has a more powerful and better equipped villains. However, the villains are usually man sided with a very attractive women just to make it that bit more exciting. On the other hand, although hero's are mainly men there can also be women hero's and over the years women hero's are starting to become more popular, for example, the film Alien. Therefore, a thriller is a villain driven plot, this means where the villain makes obstacles for the hero to overcome. for example the film taken, the villains take his child for the hero to then go and rescue her. 

Devices that are used:
Suspense: This is when they build up tension to make you thing what is going to happen next.
Red herrings: This is when you have been tricked for example you may think that someone is a bad guy when it turns out in the end that they are one of the good guys. 
Cliffhangers: this is when they leave you thinking what is going to happen next and making you think what could happen. 

Places that it may take place: 
Usually thrillers take place in exotic, romantic places and mainly in foreign places, for example, Paris or a tropical island. 

Hero's:
There are two type's of hero's there is either the hard man that everybody knows is a hero and there is also the man that gets dragged into it that you did not expect to be a hero. 

About thriller:
Most of the time thriller overlap with mystery stories, but are distinguished by the structure of there plot. Thriller are about hero's that thwart future plans rather then a mystery story which uncovers crimes that have already happened, and then this is spoiled by knowing the murders identity unlike in a thriller. Therefore, thriller are on a must greater scale. The main things in a thriller is the danger and the violent's that takes place. The mood of a thriller must be fearful excitement, short term is if it 'thrills' it is a thriller. 

The climax:
Mystery climax is solving
Thriller climax is the hero defeating the villains and saving is own life as well as others lives.
